In The Beginning...

Seeing as this is my first blog posting, I will be brief and say a little something about myself. Currently, I am not an Air Force Officer, but I soon will be. I went to work today as a civilian Operating Room RN. CardioThoracic surgery is my specialty and I seem to have found my niche as a daVinci Robot guru. Being from a generation that grew up with computer technology... and my unit WAS mostly middle-aged and older... meant I have a knack for this style of operating.

I have signed papers stating my intention to accept a commissioning as a 1st Lieutenant with my first permanent duty station at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, TX! My wife nor myself have ever lived outside a sixty mile radius of our hometown!
I have taken several steps toward seeing this goal through and plan to go down this road as long as the Lord intends for me to, but I still have several more steps to make. The next step is taking my "Oath of Enlistment", what this does is it enlists me into the Inactive Air Force Reserves and allows someone somewhere to make a check-mark so that someone else - somewhere else - can send me my Official Orders. Then comes getting my uniforms, having some Air Force hired company pack my house and take my stuff to be stored at an UNDISCLOSED LOCATION, and then I go to Commissioned Officer Training (COT) which finally and officially gives me the title 1st Lt!
The Oath is going to be at my In-laws lakehouse, which is beautiful, and a good bit of my Kitchen's family is going to be there. I will be the first descendant of my WWII Army Sniper and 1st Scout to join any military (Besides the Lord's Army, which I think we're all members of... different ranks.... but members nontheless). I look forward to it!
